Leeds United and Everton were the real go-getters in Gameweek 13 of the FPL while Liverpool overcame Spurs to go top of the league at Anfield. Chelsea lost again and Manchester City dropped points at home. Read on to find out all you need to know about Gameweek 13 in the FPL.

Wolves get first win in three games as Podence and Neto impress

Chelsea’s Olivier Giroud gave The Blues the lead at Molineux on Tuesday night. However, Wolves turned it around to bring an end to their poor streak of form. Daniel Podence equalised for the home side before Pedro Neto nabbed a late winner, in the 95th minute, heaping more misery on Frank Lampard’s Chelsea side.

Giroud’s goal-scoring performance earned him 6 FPL points for this game. Podence and Neto both got 9 points.

At 5.4m and 5.8m respectively, the Wolves midfielders may tweak the interest of FPL managers everywhere while first-choice forward Raúl Jiménez remains out with injury. In fact, Neto was the most ‘transferred in’ player for gameweek 13 with over 119,821 FPL managers sure to be delighted with their foresight.

Five-star Leeds rattle Newcastle at Elland Road

Leeds United leapfrogged Newcastle on Wednesday, beating The Magpies 5-2 to move up to 15th in the Premier League. Marcelo Bielsa’s side displayed the greatest stamina, pulling away to win by a three-goal margin after going behind early in the game and being level at 2-2 with 65 minutes played.

Jeff Hendrick gave Newcastle a first-half lead before Patrick Bamford equalised. Rodrigo put the hosts ahead after an hour but Ciaran Clark then brought Newcastle right back into it. Leeds turned on the style in the last 15 minutes with goals from Stuart Dallas, Ezgjan Alioski and Jack Harrison sealing the deal.

Harrison and Rodrigo were Leeds’ highest FPL points scorers from this game, both with 12. Bamford was purchased by 40,810 FPL managers. His performance and goal got him 6 FPL points. Stuart Dallas was the next highest ‘transferred in’ player from Leeds, with 15,199 teams bringing him on board for gameweek 13. Dallas earned his fantasy football teams 7 FPL points. Jeff Hendrick was the highest-scoring Newcastle player from that game, with 7 FPL points. Hendrick was selected by 2.2% of managers.

Everton take the points in big win at Leicester

Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton team raised their game on Wednesday night to win 2-0 at Leicester City. That made it two consecutive victories for The Toffees and two clean sheets in a row as well.

Defender Mason Holgate was the highest FPL scorer for Everton and the best player of gameweek 13 overall alongside Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford. He earned 14 points from his goal, clean sheet and bonus points. Holgate is only owned by 0.1% of FPL teams. The 4,529 managers who brought Holgate in for this round benefited greatly from such a low-budget transfer - Holgate only costs 4.8m.

Ancelotti dropped Jordan Pickford despite the England goalkeeper’s clean sheet against Chelsea in gameweek 12. However, Robin Olsen made sure the Everton manager did not regret the move, keeping Leicester at bay and earning 6 FPL points.

Everton were still without James Rodríguez. The creative midfielder was the third-most ‘transferred out’ player for gameweek 13 with 59,161 FPL teams letting him go. Richarlison also scored against Leicester and the Brazilian forward was the second-highest FPL scorer in the game with 8 points.

Firmino fires Liverpool to top of the table

Liverpool beat Spurs 2-1 at Anfield to go three points clear at the top of the Premier League on Wednesday night. Roberto Firmino rose highest to power home a 90th-minute header to seal the deal for The Reds.

Mohamed Salah had given Liverpool a first-half lead only for Spurs’ Heung-Min Son to equalise with an excellent goal on the counter-attack. However, Firmino couldn’t be stopped when Andy Robertson swung in a cross from a corner in the last minute. Liverpool’s forward scored 9 FPL points for his efforts.

Worryingly for Liverpool and 7.9% of FPL managers who own him, Sadio Mané has now gone 8 Premier League games without a goal, scoring just 2 FPL points. Salah’s goal saw him earn 7 FPL points and brought his season total to 102 so far. Like Firmino, Spurs’ Son scored 9 FPL points and remains the highest-scoring FPL player of 2020/21 with 114 points now. Harry Kane only scored 2 points against Liverpool but is still the top-scoring striker with 109 points in total.

And the rest...

Thursday night’s games produced the best goalkeeper of gameweek 13. Burnley’s Nick Pope made six saves in his team’s 0-0 draw at Aston Villa. Pope scored 11 FPL points, no doubt pleasing the 9.3% of managers who owned him. 13,563 FPL teams brought Pope in for gameweek 13 as well.

Manchester United won 3-2 at bottom club Sheffield United in the final fixture of round 13. Marcus Rashford (2) and Anthony Martial were United’s goal-scorers and top FPL points-earners as well. Rashford scored 14 points and Martial got 10 points.

David McGoldrick bagged a brace for Sheffield United, earning 13 FPL points as well. The former Ireland international was a great budget-option striker at just 5.2m. McGoldrick is owned by just 0.6% of FPL teams.

That’s all for our review of Gameweek 13. Gameweek 14 gets underway tomorrow (Saturday) so there’s no time to waste during this busy festive period! Keep your eyes on Drafthound for the tips you need to pick up more points in FPL over the coming days.
