Captains picks

This week's analysis breaks down some of the key players to look out for in the Drafthound dream teams.

All odds, ownership, and price optics were correct at the time of writing.

£6.50 | Attacker for Burnley

  • Chris Wood has 8 goals, 3 assists, and 70 points over the last ten GW’s with only Trent (71), and Iheanacho (79) returning more.
  • In that time, he’s also attempted 32 shots and had 17 shots on target which are both team-leading totals.
  • Burnley face Sheffield Utd (A) next who have the league’s worst clean sheet record (4) whilst also conceding the third-most goals (62).
  • Chris Wood has been given a 42% chance of scoring with no other player in that fixture being given a higher chance.

£4.90 | Midfielder for Newcastle

  • Willock has 6 goals in his last six games for Newcastle without failing to score in any of those.
  • Since GW30, no player has scored more goals than him even though he’s missed two games and only started three.
  • Over the same period, Newcastle have scored 16 goals and only blanked once with only Liverpool being more prolific (18).
  • This week they face Fulham (A) who have one of the worst clean sheet records in the league (9) and who lost 4-0 the last time they hosted Newcastle at Craven Cottage.

£6.70 | Attacker for West Ham

  • Antonio scored again last round and made it 3 goals in his last four appearances since returning from injury.
  • Over the same period, he’s attempted 13 shots, had 4 shots on target and returned 23 points which are all team-leading totals.
  • West Ham are still playing for European spots and should be plenty motivated in their next game at home against Southampton.
  • Southampton have conceded the second-most goals in the league (65) and have lost their last three games at London Stadium, conceding 9.

Captaincy Candidates

Many players have the potential to be good captain picks but here are the ones on our watchlist.

The first candidate is Salah .

He has a plum fixture against Crystal (H) against whom he has scored an impressive 6 goals and returned 4 assists in his last five games - including a brace in the reverse fixture.

Crystal Palace have conceded 8 goals in their last three games and Liverpool have won their last six games against them, scoring a whopping 20 goals.

Salah is one of the bookmakers’ favorite to score this round (69%) and Liverpool are also among the favorites to score the most goals.

The second candidate is Bamford .

He has returned 2 goals, 1 assist, and 22 points over the last three rounds and has been one of the most consistent players this season.

Leeds face West Brom (H) next who have conceded the most goals in the league (73) including 5 in the reverse fixture.

Bamford has 2 goals and 2 assists in his last five games against the Baggies and he’s been given a 50% chance of scoring again this time around with no other playing being given a higher chance in that fixture.

Man City players would normally also be worth targeting but with Pep roulette seemingly out of control lately, this isn’t advised.

Kane could also be an option but he has a tough fixture away to Leicester and if you couple that with Tottenham’s recent performances then there are definitely better options elsewhere.
